Liz Burden, Philippa Fenton & Charlie Pengelly are Chartered Physiotherapists & are registered with the HCPC.
We accept Physiotherapy referrals from local GP’S, Consultants, or from Solicitors & Insurance Companies.
We also have a lot of people who self- refer for treatment. You do not need a referral from a doctor to attend Physiotherapy. If you have an injury or a pain that is not getting better on its own, do phone to discuss your problem. We can advise as to whether Physiotherapy could help you. We are often able to fit people in for an appointment with only a few day’s wait. The sooner treatment is started for a problem usually the quicker it can be resolved.
If after assessment we diagnose a problem that needs specialist assessment we discuss this with you & recommend that you do see your GP.
Physiotherapy assessment includes the first treatment & takes aproximately 45 minutes. First we ask questions regarding your pain or mobility problem. We then spend time assessing the area including range of movement, muscle function, ligament stability & palpation of the area to find the cause of the problem. We then explain our findings & agree on your individual treatment that we feel is most appropriate. Treatment has a “hands-on” focus.
Follow up treatment sessions
Follow up treatment sessions take about half an hour. The number of treatment sessions needed varies according to the individual problem. Often only few sessions are needed to reduce pain & encourage the body to recover from an injury. Treatment can include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisations, stretches, ultrasound & an individual exercise programme.
